Restoration Services

Mechanical overhaul, chime correction, dial care, case conservation and careful home-visit support for antique clocks across Malaysia.

Movement overhaul and regulation

Recommended when the clock stops, runs unevenly, loses large amounts of time, chimes unpredictably or has not been serviced for many years. We disassemble only as far as the object requires, clean old lubricant, inspect pivot wear and regulate through repeated testing.

  • Movement removal and condition photography
  • Inspection of train, escapement, mainspring and suspension
  • Ultrasonic or hand cleaning when appropriate
  • Bushing, polishing and adjustment where required
  • Lubrication with clock-appropriate oils
  • Bench testing and timing notes before return

Dial, case and finish conservation

Recommended when the clock looks tired, dirty or unstable but still carries original surfaces worth protecting. We avoid aggressive refinishing unless there is a clear structural or owner-approved aesthetic reason.

  • Dust, grime and residue removal from safe surfaces
  • Brass bezel, hinge, glass and mount inspection
  • Dial cleaning risk assessment before any intervention
  • Light veneer, timber and case stabilisation
  • Replacement glass, hand and key sourcing when suitable
  • Written note distinguishing original and replaced parts

Chime, strike and sound adjustment

Sound is part of a clock’s identity. We assess gongs, bells, hammers, racks, snails, countwheels and warning mechanisms so the strike is safe, clear and correctly synchronised.

  • Westminster, bim-bam and countwheel checks
  • Hammer alignment and clearances
  • Bell or gong tone and mounting inspection
  • Strike train testing and synchronisation
  • Owner instruction for safe winding and silencing
  • Follow-up guidance after transport or installation

Installation, collection intake and home visits

Large clocks often fail after being moved or placed on an uneven floor. We offer selected Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley appointments for installation guidance, longcase assessment and after-service commissioning.

  • Wall and longcase levelling checks
  • Pendulum and weight setup
  • Transport and packaging advice
  • Home intake for fragile or oversized pieces
  • Post-restoration owner instruction
  • Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley appointment radius confirmation

Choose with clarity

Not every clock needs a full restoration

A reliable quote depends on inspection. Some clocks need only regulation and levelling. Others need a full movement overhaul. Decorative case work may be optional, delayed or avoided completely if the original surface is important.

Minor regulation may be quick, while a full overhaul commonly requires several weeks because cleaning, fitting and bench testing cannot be rushed.

Running fast, stopping after an hour, chiming at the wrong time, missing a key or arriving in pieces are all normal starting points.
